Why we exist
Many health professionals who face a complaint or a disciplinary procedure are capable clinicians. Problems often start on the professional side of practice: a late record, a rushed consent conversation, a confidentiality slip, an advertisement that crosses a line or an unprepared reply to a complaint. These topics get little time in training and are rarely revisited.
Our aim is simple: short, practical, accurate courses on those topics, written in the language and for the rules of the country you practise in, that you can finish in an evening and use at work.
How we research and write our courses
Professional regulation is high-stakes information, so every legal or regulatory statement in a course has to come from an official source.
- Country source pack first. Before the courses for a country are written, we collect the primary sources for each topic: legislation, professional codes of ethics and conduct, and the guidance of regulators and professional bodies. Each source is opened and checked, and the date of the check is recorded.
- Currency check. Where a law or code has changed recently, the course uses the current text. Anything we cannot confirm against an official source is left out or described in general terms rather than guessed.
- Original writing. We write every lesson, case scenario and question ourselves, in the language of the country. Each edition is written separately rather than translated from another.
- Assessment. Each course ends with a multiple-choice assessment (10, 15 or 20 questions depending on whether the course takes 1, 2 or 3 hours) with a pass mark of 80%.
How we keep courses up to date
Codes and laws change. When a regulator or professional body publishes a new text, we review the courses it affects and update them. If you find something on the site that seems wrong or out of date, tell us through the contact page; corrections to legal or regulatory statements are treated as a priority.
Our honesty rules
These rules apply to every page and every course:
- We are independent. We are not affiliated with, accredited by, approved by or endorsed by any ministry of health, professional council, order, chamber, continuing-education body or professional association in any country.
- We do not award continuing-education credits or points. Our certificate of completion states the course title, the hours of study and the completion date. Whether self-directed learning can be recorded towards a professional's own obligations is decided by the competent body, not by us.
- Our courses are general education and not legal advice. We cannot advise on a live complaint or procedure.
- We do not promise outcomes. Completing a course does not guarantee any result in a complaint, procedure or renewal.
- We do not publish testimonials or ratings that we cannot support, and we do not claim awards.
- If an authority or tribunal has ordered you to complete specific training, confirm that a course meets the terms of that order before you buy it.
